| On my opinion the
correlation we had there isn’t first prize. If anybody of eight pianists with their
level of talent can be compared to the laureates of the previous Competitions like the
world famous musicians as Vlasenko L., Shtarkman N., Ashkenazi V., Sololov G., Gavrilov
and the others. How did it become possible, with what striking count of
points did Roudenko with his complete failure of the second round surely do to the final.
How did Tarasov get a right to take part in the third round if he shows a horrible
heartlessness to the Competition, to the own job, to the stage, to the public and to the
played compositions of course?
I can understand why there isn’t Sultanov among the finalists. He
didn’t get enough points. May be? May be he got marks lowed beforehand? Of course his
playing provoked a dual reaction but there was a theme to discuss. There is nothing to
discuss now. There won’t be any artistic impressions, even negative.
Who learned better the concert and who has more experience to play with
the symphonic collectives are the only themes to discuss now. I note, we don’t tell
about the musicality, only about the speed and the louder.
We can suppose and it becomes evident that Rudenko will gain the first
prize. What is next? He gives concerts over the Russia, in the last Competition he got
everything he could. It is impossible to treat him as a Creator. I can’t tell that there
a lot of so “quality pianists but there are.
There is a question I would like to ask openly: why is acceptable the
participation in the Tchaikovsky Competition of the laureates of the previous Tchaikovsky
Competitions? Many World Competitions have prohibited it: what is the reason to “undo”
the same? You have won, you have become famous, give the way to somebody else, maybe no
less talented as you. I can’t understand the reasons for the contestant to play the same
program in the same Competition. I have the booklet of the last Competition and I have
checked up everything. Rudenko played the same first and third rounds as in 1994. And the
“new” pieces for this competition which were played in the second round made
everything clear, it is a slapdash.
