It reads that the annual General Assembly of WFIMC, held on April, 18 in Sydney, Australia, has decided to allow the Russian competition to enter the Federation. Delegates of the International Tchaikovsky competition are already engaged on the next General Assembly WFIMC, which will be held in April of 1999 in Dublin.

In April of 1996 General Assembly has decided to exclude the International Tchaikovsky competition from the Federation for the reason of non-payment member contributions (since 1993) and actual passiveness in the activities of WFIMC.

In 1997 Tchaikovsky Competition has reset the indebtedness and has submitted the declaration to restore of its membership. Though, the charter of this organization reads that the excluded competition should pass the procedure of reception from the very beginning. That is, to present the recommendations of the two significant international competitions - members of the WFIMC and - to wait for the annual General Assembly, which will approve or decline new member with direct voting of the representatives of all the competitions - members of the WFIMC. If the positive decision follows the new member has to pay the entrance fee (2.600 Swiss franks) and the annual contribution (1.740 Swiss franks).

Those Russian violinists and cellists, who are not satisfied with their own instruments, may use the instuments, owned by the State collection of the unique musicla instruments.

There are certain rules how the instruments may be passed to the performer. According to these rules the pretender has to present to the Collection the insurance voucher from the organization and the recommendation of his teacher.

At the XI International Tchaikovsky competition most of the contestants use their own instruments.

Two of the Russian cellists use the instruments from the Collection (they’ve got them right before the Competition). These instruments are maid by Italian violin makers Guarneri and Rugiri. Some Russian performers took the instruments from the Collection more than half a year ago. Names of those musicians are kept undisclosed.
Any participant can ask for the instrument from the State collection at any time.
Soon the State collection will own the instruments that won the III International violin makers competition affiliated to XI International Tchaikovsky competition.

Press-center's information

Editor’s note: creators of the server have the information that not all of the Russian performers could get the instruments from the State collection, even though they had all the needed documents and financial insurance ready. Those who could really get the instruments from the collection not always own them on the conditions that make the participating at the competition easy.

Age counts. For example, they should sing and have no time to study, though there’s a need to… There was a singer who is 30 – she is a soloist already but she sang an Italian aria, which seemed to be a parody on that aria… And then she sang a Russian song and everything was in place! So leave alone Tchaikovsky, he hasn’t hurt you in any way, after all!

Among the participants of any competition there usually are many hearsays – who is a student of whom, who knows someone from the jury, etc. Tchaikovsky competition is great for one shouldn’t try hard to know something. That’s real glasnost! Everyone knows everything about everyone. It feels terrific, especially because the future is absolutely defined long before it becomes present.

There seems to a disappointing high level of political pedigous which has once again clouded this once respected and prestigious competition.
