Opinions on the competition in general

There seems to a disappointing high level of political pedigous which has once again clouded this once respected and prestigious competition. However it is clear from the jury, including the head director that the contestants are mere puppets in some political testosterone game!

I am very disappointed that this competition and its members are not there actually for the celebration and inspiration of music. Until there is a competition where the contestants background, nationality, and race do NOT factor in to their ability to play-or deafen the way they are heard - this competition will continue to lose international prominence and eventually the world will lose interest! From all the articles I receive from anonymous sources I contour that the results of the final round in the piano category is an outrage, but it is sad to say it is not a shock at all.

The classical world needs to inspect this serious issue and expose it for what it really is FIXED and a JOKE!

It is a sad state when not even the medium of music is above politics and senseless predgiduces. This is an issue that will be brought to light and examined! Say it is not a shock!

I’m very glad. Russian national Dorensky competition was great. I wish that A.Soultanov could be strong enough to keep pleasing normal listeners!

Why the Small hall was chosen to carry out the auditions of singers? It is absolutely unsuitable for that! I haven’t been to the instrumental auditions, though I’ve read enough to know what was going there these days. And now I’m there to listen to the vocal round. All the amateurs of vocal art can’t fit into this definitely small hall! There’s no tickets before the auditions, 30 minutes after the beginning of the auditions they suddenly appear, inside the hall its frighteningly hot, everyone can hear the cars and other sounds from outside the hall… There’s nothing good in all that neither for the audience, nor for contestants or the jury… Wasn’t it possible to choose another hall for the auditions, something like Kolonny hall, maybe…

Importunate advertising of the general sponsor “Gazprom” annoys. By the way, why is it called “general” sponsor – they give only 30% of the money, not 50 or 90.

Another question which was already discussed in the mass media. The performing level of foreign musicians is quite low. Still there is need for a more careful selection of the foreign performers to take part in this competition.

On my opinion the secret ballot of the jury is good because it doesn’t give the possibility to group up the opinions. So you can group its up as you like but you have to vote secretly. It is a nice way to keep the conscience clear to the dishonest jury member too.

“The correlation of forces’ in the jury isn’t a matter in such case. For example, the Jury is formed by Dorensky. What is the matter? Every one can tell that he voted “for” and nobody can count anything. It is same case as in our Duma voting on Kirienko. Does anybody know the opportunists? The same case is in the Competition.

I am sure that only perfectly honest persons can keep their position in any case and we can count theme on fingers all over the world.

The Tchaikovsky competition was once a respect and prominent competition in the classical world. Now it is clear there is no longer any need at all for International recognition. This is obviously a Russian competition with juries that have unbalanced reputation. And biased judges with conflict of interest. It is sad to say but it is becoming very clear while the world is starting to lose interest in this Russian Competition. One would think music of all mediums should be above this!
